shop update

i'll open my shop with a small batch of merino wool scarves on monday 9am melbourne time.
they're up there now if you'd like to have a look. at first i was going to go minimal and do something like three colourways in total but then i had too much fun.
and don't forget daylight savings ends on sunday, i know i always do!

two seasons in one day

i have been wanting to do another outfit post for the longest time and excitingly this time i have managed to beg, borrow (luckily i didn't have to steal) a few things that you can still get your hands on.  Since we are all feeling like our summer/winter is never going to end i have done two outfits this time, one for cool weather, one for warm, both based around the same skirt. hope you enjoy them!

. . . . . . . . . .

livia arena zip marle jumper - keeps you warm and stylish at the same time. available at milly sleeping.

iacoli and mc allister 7-02 necklace - if you follow my IG you'll know i'm pretty taken with brass at the moment. this obsession is slowly but surely moving from homewares to jewelry.

primoeza colour edge scarf - a small batch of these will be available in the shop after easter.

jerome dreyfuss polo purse - french stuff always makes you feel more sophisticated.

isabel marant jenny boots - see above.

reading - the current monocle, a nice thick publication for cold nights in.

. . . . . . . . . .

fixxed la ninalapinta lasanta maria t-shirt - love the subtle graphic print on this top. available at milly sleeping.

alexi freeman + tessa blazey necklace - both these designers make interesting work and they often collaborate together. this piece available at milly sleeping.

primoeza multi wood grain scarf - again, a small batch of these will be available in the shop after easter.

a.p.c. sandals - i've been living in my mustard pair over summer. the perfect sandals.

reading - small press publications. little books that don't weigh your bag down on hot days. these are the hello sandwich tokyo guide and mary gaudin's six ten.

-and easy tiger mini skirt from gorman-

sample sale round II

i'm preparing to have another sample sale. these are things i've been keeping for reference (or just hoping to keep for myself!) but the reality is i can't store everything so i've decided to let them all go. there will be a small number of sweaters and quite a few scarves. there will be older pieces, some new pieces that i never did anything with, and some pieces that are shop-ready but again, somehow didn't make it out. in the absence of having a mailing list, i'll try and give lots of notice via this blog, IG and pinterest as to when i open the sale later this week.

......update......

i'll aim for 9am melbourne time tomorrow (which i think will make it 6pm in new york and 10pm in london!).

sydney II

these pictures are from our trip to bronte. i think if i lived in sydney i'd spend all my time at the beach too.
have a nice weekend.

sydney I

some film images from my trip up to sydney with daniela. we had four days and packed a lot in including anish kapoor and francis bacon (both truly fantastic) and maria and mel took me for a stroll down cat street, which i'd been dying to go to after seeing it on maria's blog.

new books

some books that i've picked up this year:

blackwork - lots of nice projects in here that look very pared back due to being worked in black and white. i'm drawn to the less stereotypical projects, the ones where the embroidery creates texture and pattern rather than picture or motif. however, one of my favourites (pictured below) is the seemingly random placement of lots of small motifs.

sandy black's the sustainable fashion handbook - an excellent read, especially as i'm working on the next phase of my label. the number and complexity of issues (fashion) designers face today is overwhelming, but this book is pretty inspirational.

a new favourite - vintage menswear - i have to admit that i am not a vintage fashion freak but this book struck me as being a bit different. being menswear, it's more focused on clean lines, simplicity and utility, all things that i'm quite preoccupied with at the moment.

and last of all, a gift, where chefs eat. i took a trip to sydney recently and was happy to see a couple of places we ate at listed in here (and i am waiting on some rolls of film from this trip so hopefully i'll have some images to post here shortly).
